The Wegovy dose escalation schedule is as follows:
0.25mg one dose each week for 4 weeks, then 0.5mg one dose each week for 4 weeks, then 1mg one dose each week for 4 weeks, then 1.7mg one dose each week for 4 weeks, then 2.4mg one dose each week for 4 weeks. Wegovy now offers a new dose, it has been released by the Manufacturer as three pens of 2.4mg strength. You will need to use 3 doses of 2.4mg pens to achieve the 7.2mg dose.
(Increasing strengths each month is recommended for optimum results, however patients are able to stay on the same strength if they feel that the medication is working well in terms of appetite and side effects are manageable, please note this would be prescribed off-label).
