Injection site reactions like redness, itching, or swelling can affect up to 1 in 10 users. These often resolve as your body adjusts.
To manage this, you can:
- Use Antihistamines. Non-drowsy antihistamines or local antihistamine creams can help. You can purchase Antihistamines such as Cetirizine here. After your injection if you notice the injection site is itchy/slightly red, you can also apply an antihistamine cream on the area.
- Use an icepack over the area. Make sure the ice pack is wrapped up in a tea towel, and only for 5 minutes at a time. This can help to reduce the itch and redness.
In a few patients redness and itching remains while using Mounjaro or Wegovy.
If your rash is getting worse, spreading, becoming more red or the pain is not tolerable please stop using Mounjaro or Wegovy and seek further help from your GP, NHS 111 or A&E.
Please also let us know if this occurs as soon as possible.
