I’m having trouble getting my Mounjaro pen to work?

We have put together this handy trouble shooting guide to help you try and troubleshoot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85uIaGhyDpc

Pen and needle issues can be very frustrating, but often they are preventable. It is crucial that the needle is properly attached. If the needle bends against the metal rim of the pen, or doesn’t successfully penetrate the pen, then the liquid will not flow properly when priming the pen. The needle needs to be exactly straight when you attach it.

It is essential not to push down too hard on the pen plunger if liquid doesn’t appear to be flowing as this could damage the bulb of the pen, or even break it. If the plunger isn’t descending without force, examine whether the needle has been properly attached and pierced the bulb. You may need to remove the needle and try a different needle.

It is also important when removing the needle, that the bulb isn’t dislodged or moved. This could render the pen unusable.

If you have reviewed our trouble shooting guide and are still having issues with your pen, please take a video of the pen that clearly shows how you are using it, and what seems to be the problem by showing. It is best to ensure that both the bulb at the top of your pen as well as the dose window is visible in the video taken, and if you can send this via email to our patient care team, it can be investigated further.

If you are unsure whether you have mistakenly dosed twice, having a look at the plunger location between your last dose (just before you administer the injection) and after administrating can indicate whether there has been a successful dose. If in doubt, you can send a picture to our patient care team and we can further look into this for you.
