Each Wegovy pen contains 4 doses and is designed to last 28 days (4 weeks) when used as prescribed.
Wegovy is taken once a week, on the same day each week.
When you start Wegovy, the dose is increased gradually, usually every four weeks. This helps reduce side effects by allowing your body time to adjust.
For some people, a higher-dose option (Wegovy 7.2mg) may be used as part of ongoing treatment. This is supplied as three Wegovy 2.4mg pens. To take the 7.2mg dose, you take three injections on the same day once a week, using a new needle for each injection. The injections can be taken into the same area (at least 5cm apart) or into different sites if preferred. Clear digital guidance is provided to support this.
Not everyone will need or move to the highest dose. Your clinician will work with you to decide the most appropriate dose based on how well the medication is working and how you tolerate it.
