Each Wegovy® pen from 0.25mg to 2.4mg contains 4 doses and is designed to last 28 days (4 weeks) when used as prescribed.
Wegovy® is taken once a week, on the same day each week.
When you start Wegovy®, the dose is increased gradually, usually every four weeks. This allows your body time to adjust to the medication and can help reduce the risk of side effects.
What about Wegovy® 7.2mg?
For some people, the higher Wegovy® 7.2mg dose may be used as part of ongoing treatment.
Wegovy® 7.2mg is supplied as a box of 4 single-dose auto-injectors, with each auto-injector containing one full 7.2mg dose.
You use one auto-injector once a week. Each auto-injector is for single use and should be disposed of appropriately after your injection.
This means one box provides 4 weekly doses, covering 4 weeks of treatment.
Not everyone will need to move to the highest dose. Your clinician will work with you to determine the most appropriate dose based on how well the medication is working, how you tolerate your treatment and whether a dose increase is appropriate for you.
