How are weight care medicines delivered safely?

Delivery and packaging requirements can vary depending on the medicine.

Some medicines still require cold-chain or fridge-line delivery and are shipped using validated temperature-controlled packaging.
Other medicines may be suitable for approved controlled-temperature delivery without ice packs or cold-chain packaging, where this is supported by manufacturer guidance and regulatory approval.

Wegovy delivery: Wegovy FlexTouch pens can now be delivered using an approved controlled-temperature delivery process. This means Wegovy may arrive without ice packs or cooled packaging.
This follows updated manufacturer guidance from Novo Nordisk and approval from the MHRA. Wegovy FlexTouch pens can be safely transported below 30°C for up to 48 hours during the final delivery stage.
If your Wegovy pen is unopened and you are not using it straight away, place it in the fridge once received.
Once your Wegovy pen is in use, it can be stored either in the fridge or at room temperature below 30°C for up to 6 weeks.

Mounjaro delivery: Mounjaro remains cold-chain and will continue to be shipped using the existing cold-chain delivery process.
If your Mounjaro arrives warm, without cold-chain packaging, damaged, leaking, or you have any concerns about temperature exposure, please contact our Patient Care Team before using it.

General storage advice: Always follow the storage instructions for your specific medication.
Do not freeze your pen. Avoid storing pens at the back of the fridge or near the cooling element, as this may cause freezing. We also recommend avoiding the fridge door, as the temperature can fluctuate more there.

Please contact our Patient Care Team if you are unsure how your medication should be stored.
