Yes, Wegovy can now arrive at room temperature and still be safe to use.
Wegovy FlexTouch pens can now be delivered using an approved controlled-temperature delivery process. This follows updated manufacturer guidance from Novo Nordisk and approval from the MHRA.
Wegovy can be safely transported below 30°C for up to 48 hours during the final delivery stage.
This means your Wegovy may arrive without ice packs or cooled packaging.
This does not affect: the quality of the medication; the safety of the medication; the effectiveness of the medication; your dose; how you use the pen.
Room temperature does not mean unsafe.
If your pen was delivered within 48 hours, has not been exposed to temperatures above 30°C, is not damaged or leaking, and the solution is clear and colourless, you can use it as normal.
If your pen is unopened and you are not using it straight away, place it in the fridge once received.
Once your Wegovy pen is in use, it can be stored either in the fridge or at room temperature below 30°C for up to 6 weeks.
Please contact our Patient Care Team before using your pen if: the delivery took longer than 48 hours and you do not expect to use the pen within 6 weeks; the parcel was left somewhere hot or in direct sunlight; the pen may have been exposed to temperatures above 30°C; the pen or packaging is damaged; the pen has leaked; the liquid is cloudy, coloured or has particles in it; you are unsure whether the pen is safe to use.
